Completed in
1862, the first 'Government House' is located within the grounds of the
Queensland University of Technology Gardens Point campus, in
Brisbane.
The government residential building was constructed to accommodate the first
Governor of Queensland,
Sir George Bowen, and the building continued to be used by the State Governors until the construction of
Government House, Queensland, at its present location at the
Brisbane suburb of
Bardon, in
Queensland,
Australia.
Old Government House, which has been the Queensland headquarters for the
National Trust of Australia, is a Queensland
Heritage listed building.
Concerts have also been held in the building.
