History
Oppenau was founded in the 12th century.
All Saints' Abbey (''"Allerheiligenkloster"''), founded in
1192, gained power in
1316, Subsequently Oppenau belonged to the
bishops of Strasbourg. After the
Reichsdeputationshauptschluss in 1803, Oppenau became part of
Baden.

Oppenau's main attractions are the ruins of the monastery, which was destroyed by fire in 1804, and the cataracts close to them.
