ORLANDO REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER
The 'Orlando Regional Medical Center' ('ORMC') is the only level I trauma center in the Central Florida area and, therefore, provides intensive care for this area. ORMC is part of a group of hospitals known as Orlando Regional Healthcare, and itself is home to three other hospitals: Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies, and M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando. ORMC began in 1918 as Orange General Hospital. While it only had 50 beds at that time, the hospital has expanded to 1,870 beds, 581 in the trauma center alone.
