OUTAOUAIS REGION


'Outaouais' is a region of western Quebec, Canada. It includes the cities of Gatineau (Hull, Aylmer), Montebello, Pontiac, and Maniwaki and is located on the north side of the Ottawa River opposite Canada's capital, Ottawa. It has a land area of 30,760.05 km² (11,876.52 sq mi) and a 2006 census population of 341,096 inhabitants. It is home to the Gatineau Olympiques, a junior hockey team in the Quebec Junior hockey league. It is currently known as one of the most bilingual regions in the province of Quebec.
