OVERBROOK (SEPTA STATION)

'Overbrook Station' is an above-ground commuter rail station located in Overbrook at the edge of the City of Philadelphia at 63rd St & City Av, Philadelphia, PA 19151. [1] It is served by most R5 Paoli-Thorndale trains with the exception of a few express runs.
The station is the last stop before 30th Street Station in Center City Philadelphia and serves many of the residents of Overbrook Farms and the suburban neighborhoods across City Avenue in neighboring Montgomery County. It is within walking distance of the 63rd & Malvern Loop of the SEPTA Route 10 trolley. Also, the station is the ''de facto'' train stop for the students of Saint Joseph's University, which lies about three-quarters of a mile northeast on City Avenue from the station. The students often use it to travel to their homes, to other colleges in Philadelphia, or to Center City, which takes about ten minutes.
This historic station was built around 1860 (according to the Philadelphia Architects and Building project), and the station, platforms, and canopies were restored over a period of four years from 1999 to 2003 in a $9,101,649 (originally $7.2 million) project.
