Football Team
Overland High School football sports a long tradition of winning, including the Colorado 6A State Championship in 1993, and trips to the 5A state Championship in 1995 and 2004. Coach Tony Manfredi maintains a highly skilled staff, along with a consistently well-executed offense.
Overland runs a split back veer offense. The split back veer typically has two running backs, and runs option out of a varying number of formations. Overland's veer contains two running backs no deeper than 3 yards from the line of scrimmage. The offensive line utilized very wide splits, with 3 feet from center to guard and 5-7 feet between the guard and the tackle. Option plays are run with the intent of opening up play action passing, which enables the offense to suck the linebackers (and oftentimes the safeties) into the run fake, and then pass over the top.
