PACIFIC WESTERN UNIVERSITY (HAWAII)

The 'Pacific Western University in Hawaii' is a defunct university, which was shut down following an action by the Hawaii state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA)[1]. Bears' Guide asserts that Pacific Western University (California) has "Same Ownership as Pacific Western University (Hawaii), which is run by the same people from the same building."[2]. This is supported by ''Inside Higher Education''. PWU Hawaii is also linked to American PacWest International University. [3]
PWU was not accredited by any accreditation body recognized by its country. [4] As such, its degrees and credits might not be acceptable to employers or other institutions, and use of PWU degree titles may be restricted or illegal in some jurisdictions. [5]
PWU Hawaii was once associated with, owned, and managed by Pacific Western University, California, but has since disaffiliated and ownership of PWU Hawaii was sold to an unrelated organization. PWU California has since changed its name to California Miramar University, while PWU Hawaii was shut down by court order after losing a lawsuit filed by the state.
