'Palace Sports and Entertainment' is a sports and entertainment company owned by billionaire William Davidson.
The company owns the Detroit Pistons of the NBA, the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL, the Detroit Shock of the WNBA and the Asheville Tourists of minor league baseball's SAL. Palace also owned now-defunct teams the Detroit Safari and Detroit Vipers.
Palace owns and/or operates several venues including its namesake The Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, and the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa.
At 700 EST on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 it was announced by media advisory that Palace Sports and Entertainment had sold the Tampa Bay Lightning and leasehold rights to the St. Pete Times Forum to an ownership group led by Doug MacLean.
