PAUL BURNS
'Paul Burns' (born 18 May 1984 in Irvine) is a Scottish professional footballer who currently plays for First Division side Queen of the South. This season, he has been an ever-present in the league for the Doonhamers.
'Burnsy' is most at home on the right hand side but also can be played anywhere across the midfield. The youngster was signed from boys club Ayr Valspar as a sixteen year old and has went on to become a first team regular for the Dumfries side. Burns played in the same Valspar team as Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot. Burnsy is a popular player amongst the fans due to his committed performances and his hard, crowd pleasing tackles.
Since joining Queens, Burnsy has made 131 first team appearances and scored 7 goals in the process. He is now, with the departure of Colin Scott, Queen of the South's longest serving player.
Burns made his 100th start in a Queens shirt in a league defeat to Hamilton Academical on the 18th of August and was rewarded with a presentation at Palmerston Park before Queens' league match against Livingston a week later.
He is the grandson of the late Michael Morran, who served Ayrshire Junior side Glenafton Athletic as physio for 35 years.
