PAUL HARTMAN
'Paul Hartman' (March 1, 1904 – October 2, 1973) was an American dancer, stage performer and television character actor.
Born in San Francisco, California, Hartman, like Fred Astaire, began performing as a dancer with his sister, and developed a career that spanned the golden musical era of the 1940s-50s. As a character actor he played a barber on ''Petticoat Junction'' and a landlord on ''Love American Style''. He is best known for playing handyman Emmett Clark in ''The Andy Griffith Show'' and ''Mayberry R.F.D.'' In the AGS episode, "The Marriage", the dancer/ actor is seen doing a dance routine at Howard Sprague's party. Also, in the RFD episode "The Charity", he can be seen doing a soft shoe routine with costar Ken Berry.
Paul Hartman won a Tony Award in 1948 for ''Angel in the Wings''.
Hartman died from a heart attack in Los Angeles, California at the age of 69.
