PEARL CITY HIGH SCHOOL (HAWAII)


'Pearl City High School' is located in suburban Pearl City in the state of Hawai'i, along the slopes of the Ko'olau Mountains with a view of Pearl Harbor below. Established in 1973, Pearl City High School is a public, secondary, co-educational, college preparatory high school governed by the Hawaii State Department of Education.
The motto, "Excellence with Honor," was created by Richard Mahony
Pearl City High School was most noted for its exceptional music program, and had earned their reputation under the direction of Pearl City High School band directors Michael Nakasone and Thomas Kamisato. The Pearl City High School "Charger" Band is currently under the direction of Chadwick Kamei and Chris Lopez. In 2007, the Marching Band was one of two bands selected to represent the United States in the Olympic World Youth Festival Parade in Beijing, China.
The Wind Ensemble I has appeared in the prestigious Mid-West Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, Illinois, the ABA-JBA Convention, and the MENC (Music Educators National Convention) in Phoenix, Arizona.
Pearl City High School earned the maximum accreditation term of six years in 2006 by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
