A 'pentapolis', from the
Greek words ''penta'' 'five' and
polis 'city(-state)' is geographic and/or institutional grouping of five cities.
Significant historical cases

The Pentapolis on the Adriatic was part of the
Exarchate of Ravenna, an administrative unit of the
