PEP SQUAD
A 'pep squad' is a group of students, typically girls, who cheer during school events. Pep squads are found in in high schools, middle schools and sometimes, elementary schools. The pep squad's main duty is to promote school spirit. Pep squad members make posters, cheer for school sports teams, and help with pep rallies. During games, pep squads lead cheers and chants.
A pep squad is very similar to a cheerleading squad. Sometimes a pep squad replace cheerleaders at certain events.
Sometimes they tumble and do stunts with the cheerleaders, but pep squads typically operate independently. Some schools recommend pep squad for those who want to participate in school events but are not or cannot be cheerleaders.
Pep squads and cheerleaders often perform the same or similar routines. Although, the uniforms, pom-poms, hair ribbons, and even squad size is usually extremely different.
