PETER GREGSON

Professor 'Peter Gregson', FREng, CEng, (born Dunfirmline, Scotland, 1957) is a British research engineer and the 11th President and Vice-Chancellor of Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland, taking over from Sir George Bain in August 2004. He is married to Rachael and they have three children.
Gregson wase ducated at Cranleigh School in Surrey, and in 1980 graduated from Imperial College London with a BSc with First Class Honours in Material Sciences. He was awarded his PhD from Imperial in 1983, and was subsequently appointed lecturer in Engineering Materials at the University of Southampton. He was promoted to Professor of Aerospace Materials 1995, and appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the university in 2000. In 2001, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He was appointed President and Vice-Chancellor of Queen's University in August 2004.
