PHTHALIC ACIDS

'Phthalic acids', also known as benzene dicarboxylic acids, are organic acids with the chemical formula C6H4(COOH)2. There are three isomers: ''ortho-'' or 'phthalic acid' (benzene-1,2-dicarboxylic acid); ''meta''- or 'isophthalic acid' (benzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid); ''para''- or 'terephthalic acid' (benzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid).
