'Piacenzian' (also known as 'Astian', 'Redonian', or 'Romanian') is a stage of the Pliocene Epoch. It spans the time between 3.6 ± 0.005 Ma and 2.588 ± 0.005 Ma (million years ago).
It is usually referred to as the 'Early Late Pliocene', and sometimes, unofficially, as the 'Middle Pliocene'.
