Catalina Island
Catalina Island is known as the island of romance, but it's also a great spot for families. The second largest of the Channel Islands, just 22 miles from California's coast, Catalina makes a great family weekend. Our kids had a blast on the hourlong ferry from Dana Point to the island, where we spotted sailboats, kayakers, and a pod of frolicking dolphins. Once you disembark in Avalon Bay, grab a golf cart for a tour around the island, and then take a stroll along Crescent Drive, Catalina's main boardwalk. Here, kids can enjoy a treat of spun taffy, ice cream or caramel apples at the old-fashioned confectionary Lloyds of Avalon — — or enjoy a few video games and skee ball at the Metropole Marketplace arcade. A trip to the island isn't complete without a stroll along the Green Pleasure Pier, where you can grab some fish and chips at Eric's restaurant and then go for a cruise on the bay. The Undersea Tour aboard the Starlight and Emerald semi-submersible vessels is a must-see. During the voyage, you'll explore the clear waters of Lover's Cove and a protected kelp forest where you'll come face to face with bright orange garibaldi, spotted calico bass, and opaleyes — among many other types of marine life. The 45-minute tour is also offered at night. To explore Catalina's rugged interior and native wildlife, hop aboard the Classic Inland Motor Tour, which follows the 1800s stagecoach route. In Middle Ranch, you'll meet Tachi, an endangered Santa Catalina Island Fox who acts as an educational ambassador for her species. You'll also see a herd of wandering bison, native woodpeckers, and perhaps a bald eagle or two. At El Rancho Escondido, the Wrigley family's Hidden Ranch, you can enjoy an Arabian horse demonstration and then spend about 45 minutes walking through the ranch. Pet the horses in their stables, play with a wandering kitty, or watch a short film on the ranch's history. A small museum displays Bohlin saddles, carriages and family memorabilia. After your tour, the Golf Gardens are just steps away. Known as one of the world's most challenging and beautiful miniature golf courses, the lushly landscaped grounds offer 18 holes of family fun.

Oberservations and incidents
A handful of things. In order of appearence: 00:00 My pet hate, people who don`t give way to drivers when they have nowhere to go. Here on the seafront the queue everyday is at least two miles. You're going to travel a car length every 30 seconds - if you're lucky. So why do people insist on sitting bumper to bumper? At a sideroad leave a gap! And if someone is waiting let them through, what are you going to do? Nick a foot of road and still sit there for 30 minutes? 00:45 A car driving up a one way street, infairness on reviewing the footage the signage on the road he appeared from isn't that clear, so this guy I will let off the hook although he still drove the wrong way up the street. I often think people beleive I'm police with that massive camera strapped to the side of my helmet. It's comical the amount of people who stop using their phones, or buckle up or otherwise obey the law when they see me. Did this driver see me and decide to turn around? Or would he have done anyway? Who knows. See at the end I let a car driver go so we can all get on our way? Didn't take a second did it.... 01:41 On the M1 a car pulls out. Result we have an indicator! Although she didn't give proper observations or she would have seen me coming up progressively behind her. (To preempt any winge bags I had just checked my right mirror thankfully) 01:53 On the roundabout near the pier on the seafront. It doesn't look that bad, but you can see from the initial freeze frame that the car infront of me was entering the roundabout and the car circled was far off doing the same. I don't think they looked, or didn't look properly, had the car been going quicker it could have been nasty.... 02:00 Then we have my friend the suicyclist. Close call! He didn't flinch... 02:20 you see the advantages of a "flip" helmet, I'd hate to have a fullface helmet and have a sneezing fit....ewwwww 03:00 you hear my pathetic joke 04:35 No sound I'm afraid, forgot to plug the mic in, but I do like the "face" footage. Nothing really of interest... You might find my blog interesting, there's more videos and more random rubbish http://www.qwerf.com or if you're bored, please annoy my wife http://www.qwerf.com/sign.php
