PIRJO MANNINEN
'Pirjo Manninen' (born March 8, 1981) is a Finnish cross country skier who has competed since 1998. She won three medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships with two golds (2001: individual sprint, 2007: 4 x 5 km) and a silver (2005: team sprint, with Riitta Liisa Lassila).
Manninen also has sixteen additional victories up to 15 km from 2000 to 2002. She is the younger sister of Nordic combined skier Hannu. At the 2007 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo, they became the first brother-sister combonation to win gold medals at the same championships.
Manninen married on June 30, 2007 to Ville Muranen and is now known as Pirjo Muranen.
