'John H. Francis Polytechnic High School' is a secondary school located in Los Angeles, California, United States.
Polytechnic, which serves grades 9 through 12, is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Despite its name, Polytechnic is a comprehensive high school.
The school is located in the Sun Valley section of Los Angeles, in the San Fernando Valley. It offers a Magnet program for those willing to attend college in the near future.

Francis Polytechnic High School opened in the early 1900's at its original campus in downtown Los Angeles on Washington and Grand Streets. In 1956 it was moved to its present location. [1]. The school mascot is a parrot named Joe Poly. The school is also popular for its long going rivalry against North Hollywood High School
In 2006, the establishment of Arleta High School [2] and Panorama High School [3] relieved Polytechnic of its overcrowding.

Harry Danning -- major league baseball player

Gail Goodrich -- basketball player; won a city championship. He later went on to play for UCLA and the Los Angeles Lakers, both with which he won championships.

William Hung -- of American Idol fame.

Greg Palast -- Author, BBC Journalist [4]

Bill Bonham (baseball player) -- Pitcher for the Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds

David Scott Stone - Musican, Sound artist

Brady Keys - NFL defensive back, 1961-1968. Pro Bowl with Pittsburgh Steelers, 1966.

Tom Bradley (politician) - 5-term mayor of Los Angeles.
