Location


The station is located at the southern end of the Murray Road level crossing and the northern end of the Cramer Street level crossing. Shops are located near the station.

Facilities


The station consists of side two platforms. Platform 1 contains a large brick building with an enclosed waiting room and a ticket office inside while platform 2 contains a small brick building. A large Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 1, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes, coins and debit cards. A small Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 2.
Both platforms can be accessed via Murray Road and Cramer Street.

History


Preston station opened on Tuesday, 8 October, 1889 as Preston - Murray Road, Murray. It was later renamed to Preston in 1905.
