PROFESSIONAL WRITING

Among the professional writing programs housed in US universities is that of the University of Maryland, College Park. Founded in 1982, professional writing in the "Maryland Model" uses an advanced composition and argumentation framework to help students anticipate workplace wriing. Undergraduates in all majors must take a course in "Junior English" to meet core graduation requirements. Other well regarded programs in professional writing operate at Carnegie Mellon University, Michigan State University, North Carolina State University, and Purdue University.
