About Prosper
Prosper was a small rural town on Preston Road (SH 289) in North Texas about 6 mi (9 km) north of Frisco, Texas but in recent years – true to its name – it has prospered. Like its neighboring town, Celina about 4 mi (6 km) to the north, Prosper is growing quickly in terms of new home building (houses in the $200,000 to $500,000 range). In addition to a long-time retail filling station, in 2004 Prosper saw its second and 3rd retail establishments arrive: a Sonic restaurant, and an Exxon "On The Run" station.
Well-known residents include Liann Rymes as well as current Minesotta Twins outfielder Torii Hunter and former Dallas Cowboys football players Bill Bates and Deion Sanders who own large parcels of land. Many residents are professionals who commute to Frisco, Plano, Dallas and neighboring communities.
