'Proti' is a Greek island in the Ionian Islands. It is part of the municipality Gargalianoi, in the prefecture Messenia. The Byzantine Emperor Romanos IV was blinded and exiled to this island in 1072 A.D., and died shortly thereafter due to wounds from his severe blinding.
