PUSHING DAISIES

'''Pushing Daisies''' is an upcoming American television comedy-drama created by Bryan Fuller who also serves as executive producer alongside Bruce Cohen, Dan Jinks and Barry Sonnenfeld. The pilot episode was also directed by Sonnenfeld, [1] whose last series television project for ABC was the 1998 revival of ''Fantasy Island''.
Produced by Warner Bros. Television, the series was greenlit and given a thirteen-episode order by ABC on May 11, 2007 [2], and is currently scheduled to air on Wednesday nights at 8:00/7:00c beginning on October 3, 2007, leading into the ''Grey's Anatomy'' spin-off, ''Private Practice''. [3] It will also air on CTV and ITV1 in Canada and the United Kingdom respectively. [4][5].

Plot

''Pushing Daisies'' is a "forensic fairy tale" that focuses on Ned, a piemaker with a mysterious ability to make the dead live again. The gift is not without its complications, however: if he touches this being a second time, they'll be dead permanently. If they live for more than 60 seconds, somebody else nearby will die. (Quote: "It's a random proximity thing")
[6]. It's a gift that he puts in good use to help a private investigator friend, Emerson Cod and his childhood sweetheart, the once-dead Charlotte "Chuck" Charles.[7]

Cast

The show features actor Lee Pace in the central role of Ned. The series reunites Pace with creator Fuller; the two worked together on the critically acclaimed series, ''Wonderfalls''.

Reception

Early critical acclaim

The unaired pilot has been, so far, well-received by critics who have been able to screen it. ''TV Guide's Michael Ausiello claimed that "ABC has found its next ''Lost''!" upon review [8] and the series has also been touted as "the fall show with the most spring buzz" [9] by many, not least of all by renowned entertainment trade publication, ''Variety'' [10]. ''New York Magazine'' also provided it with a rave review, calling it "funny, imaginative and smart" whilst also claiming it "boasts ''Gilmore Girls''-speed wit".[11]
