QUIM
'Joaquim Manuel Sampaio Silva', OIH, known as 'Quim', (pron. ), born in Vila Nova de Famalicão, November 13, 1975 is a Portuguese football player.
He played at SC Braga, were he had his first game during 1994/95 season, until 2003/04. He moved to Benfica, in 2004. He has since intermittently been the main goalkeeper at Benfica, having shared the goal with Moreira in the title-winning 2004/05 season. Next season he started as the first-choice keeper for Benfica, but injury to him as well as Moreira saw Moretto being signed during winter break and controversially snatching a place in the starting XI.
Quim’s fortunes turned around at the beginning of the 2006/07 season as new coach Fernando Santos announced that the former Braga man would be his first goalkeeper. The vote of confidence was all Quim needed and he has rarely put in a bad performance this season, leading the player to admit that he is enjoying the best moment of his career.
A player tipped for goalkeeping greatness after representing his country at every level from the Under-16s upwards, the agile Quim is finally starting to display his qualities at top-level football.

National team
A UEFA European Under-18 Championship winner in 1994, he made his senior debut in August 1999 in a 4-0 victory against Andorra, after which he was Portugal's's third-choice keeper at Euro 2000. Quim enjoyed a short cameo as a substitute in the 3-0 win against Germany at Euro 2000 before establishing himself in 2002 World Cup qualifying. However, a failed drugs test saw him miss out on Korea/Japan.
He was the second choice goalkeeper for Portugal in Euro 2000 and 2004, and remains as such, behind the habitual first keeper Ricardo, more recently at the World Cup 2006 finals.
As of 8 July, 2006 Quim had 24 caps for the Portuguese national team.
