RADIO CLYDE
'Radio Clyde' is a radio station broadcaster in Glasgow, Scotland. The first broadcast on Radio Clyde began at 10.30 p.m. on December 31st, 1973. The first studios were located at Anderston Cross in Glasgow city centre.
Now based in Clydebank, the company broadcasts two radio stations in the Glasgow area, Clyde 1 and Clyde 2 and previously broadcast the digital radio station 3C (radio) on the DAB network until its closure.
The stations were formerly owned by the Scottish Radio Holdings, but was sold to EMAP when Scottish Radio Holdings sold its remaining shares in 2005.
Past presenters have included Jeff Cooper, Paul Coia, Ken Sykora, Richard Park , Mark Goodier and Dougie Donnelly. BBC Breakfast anchor Bill Turnbull also began his career in journalism at the station.
The station was heavily criticised by pundits and listeners alike after it was announced that when the breakfast show DJ, George Bowie, stormed out of his show after an altercation with the radio bosses on 11 May 2007. The day previous, results given by RAJAR announced that on the whole, Radio Clyde had been losing listeners. To combat this, the bosses at Radio Clyde stirred up and fabricated the story in order to increase column inches.
