RAKHI SAWANT

'Rakhi Sawant.' (Devanagari: राखी सावंत, ITRANS:) is an Indian model and actress. She is a daughter of a Mumbai policeman. Her real name is Neeru Sawant and she is popular as an ''item girl'' and sex symbol.

Biography

Rakhee started her career as a cabaret dancer. Hailing from a poor family, she has had only a few years of formal education. Her inability to speak fluent English has ensured that she could never fit into the class-conscious Bollywood industry. She is the sister of Rakesh who is currently making his directorial debut.

Filmography

Apart from her appearance on the silver screen, has also appeared in a number of music videos, most notably for the remix number ''Pardesiya''. In 2006, she was a cast member of reality show ''Bigg Boss'', the Indian version of Big Brother. She was voted off the show by fellow cast members after a month, but has been brought back and was one of the final 4 participants.

Controversy

Rakhi has attracted a great deal of attention by appearing on stage and screen in what some consider 'revealing' outfits. In May 2006, she was booked for obscenity by the TN Police, after a stage show in the city. She was let off with a warning.^[2] A month later, she was again in the news when she filed a molestation case against pop singer Mika Mehndi, younger brother of Daler Mehndi, who forcibly kissed her at his birthday party, where she was a guest. She made waves in Bigg Boss, a Sony television show.^[3].
She was regularly ridiculed on the show Koffee With Karan but recently appeared in an episode of the show and impressed Karan Johar.
