RAYDALE PARK
'Raydale Park' is a football stadium in Gretna, Scotland. It is currently used for football matches and is the home ground of Gretna F.C.. The stadium holds 6,000 people.
Although Gretna qualified for the UEFA Cup in 2005-2006 season after losing to Hearts in the Scottish Cup final (Hearts had already qualified for the UEFA Champions League), the stadium was deemed too small for UEFA Cup football (stadium held 2,500 people at the time). Gretna instead played their UEFA Cup match (a 1-5 defeat to Derry City) at Fir Park in Motherwell.
Gretna will play all their games for the 2007-08 season at Motherwell, as Raydale will be rebuilt to 6,000 to meet SPL requirements. Though the team could have played at stadia nearer to Gretna, such as Netherdale, the club chose Fir Park due to its larger capacity. This will mean a 150 mile round trip for fans from Gretna, Gretna Green and Longtown, the closest English town to Raydale Park .
