RESISTANCE IS FUTILE

“'Resistance is futile'” (IPA: ) is a famous catch phrase used by the Borg from the ''Star Trek'' fictional universe. It has subsequently been assimilated into popular culture as a proverb and has become a cultural meme.
It was first spoken in Star Trek in the '' episode "The Best of Both Worlds," written by Michael Piller. It was later used by Piller in the '' pilot episode "Emissary". It was made more popular as the tagline of the 1996 film '' by the actor Jeff Coopwood who was the "Voice of the Borg" in that film.

"Resistance is futile" has been used in a 2006 advertising campaign for Leerdammer cheese, and as part of commercials for Arby's. The phrase appeared in the wedding episode of the British sitcom As Time Goes By.
