'Richard Blackwood' (born 15 May, 1972, Clapham, London, England) is a British stand-up comedian, television personality, sometime actor and MC of Jamaican origin. He currently co-presents a show on the London radio station, Choice FM, and guests as a disc jockey at nightclubs in the United Kingdom.
Blackwood presented the UK version of ''Singled Out'' [1] on C5 and, in 1999, presented his own show called ''The Richard Blackwood Show''. He presented ''Top of the Pops'' for the BBC and hosted MTV's ''Select''. He made one appearance on the news quiz ''Have I Got News For You'' and he has also appeared in numerous reality television series: ''The Club'', ''Drop the Celebrity'' and ''I'm Famous and Frightened!'', ''Celebrity Detox'' - where he underwent enemas for the British TV viewers entertainment - and the ''Bull Run Rally''.
Blackwood appeared on Brass Eye in 2001, during which he was tricked into saying that internet paedophiles can make computer keyboards emit noxious fumes in order to subdue children (Blackwood even sniffed a keyboard and claimed to be able to smell the fumes, which he said made him feel "suggestible").
Blackwood has acted in such programmes as ''Holby City'' and played the title character in the harrowing 2002 television series, ''Ed Stone Is Dead''. In 2006, he appeared on the TV programme, ''The Mint'' and features in a comedy DVD release called ''Princes Of Comedii''.
He has recently appeared in the play The Brothers at the Hackney empire.
Blackwood released an album called ''You'll Love to Hate This'' in 2001 which included a cover of one of track by Junior, who is Blackwood's uncle.
In 2003 Blackwood had his Isle of Dogs home repossessed and declared himself bankrupt. He was reportedly often heckled with the phrase "Oi Blackwood, you're BANKRUPT SUNSHINE!" by passers-by on the street [2]. The culmination of this was an incident in which Blackwood placed a gun to his head, but was then restrained by his girlfriend. [1]
In spite of recent troubles, he is experiencing a minor resurgence, as a guest at Students' Unions [3].
In March 2007, he returned to public attention with his role in the Bollywood film ''Don't Stop Dreaming'', in which he plays a bass guitarist, called Jimmy [4].
Blackwood is now a radio presenter for black London station Choice FM.
