RICK CHARTRAW
'Rick Chartraw' (born July 13, 1954 in Caracas, Venezuela and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania) is a retired American professional ice hockey defenceman who played 420 games in the National Hockey League between 1974 and 1984. Selected tenth overall in the 1974 NHL Entry Draft, he was this first American drafted in the first round. Chartraw moved to the U.S. at age 3 and learned to play hockey there (he was also a promising golf player) before moving to Canada as a teenager to play junior hockey for the Kitchener Rangers.
Rick started his National Hockey League career with the Montreal Canadiens in 1975. He spent seven years in Montreal before being traded to the Los Angeles Kings. Later, he would play for the New York Rangers and Edmonton Oilers. He won four Stanley Cups with the Habs and one with the Oilers. He also played for Team USA in the 1976 Canada Cup.
