RIO RANCHO HIGH SCHOOL
'Rio Rancho High School' is a public high school located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Much of the money to build RRHS was appropriated by the Intel Corporation. The school is unique in that there is no freshman class and that the school is organized into 5 academies: Business & Entrepreneurs, Engineering & Design, Fine Arts, Humanities, and SciMatics. The school's academic requirements are non-traditional because it is on a 4 block per day schedule and requires the highest standards of a public school with 29 credits needed to graduate.

History
Rio Rancho High School opened in the Fall of 1997 without a freshmen class. The following year, the "First Year Academy" was created in order to integrate the incoming freshmen into the school. The school rapidly grew to be the state's largest and held that distinction for 3 years, from 1999 through 2002, peaking enrollment at close to 3200 students. The school district then opened the Rio Rancho Mid-High School in the Fall of 2002, which took the incoming 8th grade students from the middle schools and the incoming 9th grade students from the high school leaving the current 10th through 12th grade system that is in place today.
Growth
The city of Rio Rancho is one of the fastest growing communities in the state. It has become necessary for the Rio Rancho Public Schools to plan the building of a new high school to relieve the overcrowding. To that goal, a new school, V. Sue Cleveland High School, is in the planning phases.
Class Information
The class of 2006 consisted of 712 graduates, with Cosette Wong and Adrianne Cordero as co-Salutatorians and Joshua Barron as Valedictorian. The class of 2007 was the first graduating class to have attended school within the Rio Rancho School District (as opposed to the Albuquerque District) for all 12 years of schooling.
The Salutatorian for the class of 2007 was John Pesko; the Valedictorian was Zephra Doerr.
