ROBY

'Roby' is a small residential area of Merseyside, England. Roby is within the historic county boundaries of Lancashire and is linked with its neighbour Huyton by the Huyton-with-Roby civil parish. [1] Like Huyton, Roby is usually thought of as a suburb of Liverpool and it has an L36 postcode, although it is outside the city of Liverpool. It is located at . It has a golf course situated in between the M62 and the Emmetts.

In 1894 Roby was included in the Huyton with Roby Urban District. [2] On the abolition of the administrative county of Lancashire in 1974, the urban district was also abolished and its former area was transferred to Merseyside to be combined with that of other districts to form the present-day metropolitan borough of Knowsley. [3]

History


Roby is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 507, it is one of the oldest villages in the world. It is a quiet little place located on the green belt of liverpool city. Thought to be the posh area of liverpool with many detached houses and private roads such as Wynwood park where multi millionaire Sandra Hughes lives.

Transport


Roby has a train station situated on the Liverpool City Line which is situated between the stations of Broad Green and Huyton.
