SAAB 9-4X
The 'Saab 9-4X' is a midsize luxury SUV planned to be released by the Swedish automaker Saab Automobile. It is expected to be based on an automobile platform to be shared with a similar Cadillac model. No official launch date has been given, but industry sources expect sales to begin in the 2009 model year. It is scheduled to be built at Trollhättan, Sweden. The main challenge, according to Svante Kinell at the marketing department at Saab, is to find the right Diesel engines for the European market. [1]
The focus of the 9-4X really took shape once the Saab 9-6X project was cancelled, with the selling off by General Motors of its holding in Subaru. The 9-4X will be the replacement for the current U.S.-built Saab 9-7X, which is a 'sister' car to the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, due for phasing out in 2009.
