SALFORD CRESCENT RAILWAY STATION
'Salford Crescent' is one of two railway stations serving the city of Salford, in the county of Greater Manchester, England. The other station is Salford Central).
The station is 3 km (1¾ miles) west of Manchester Victoria and 3.5 km (2¼ miles) west of Manchester Piccadilly.
The station is also signposted as "For the University of Salford", as the station is located on the edge of the Peel Park Campus.
Salford Crescent is located on two main rail lines in the Manchester area. First, it forms the point of a split in the Manchester-Preston Line, with local services running on to Manchester Victoria and long-distance services going to Manchester Piccadilly. Secondly, it is part of the line between Manchester and Wigan Wallgate. Due to its location it is frequently used as an interchange between the two lines.

Westbound: frequent services operate to Manchester Piccadilly (some continuing to Manchester Airport and Buxton) and to Manchester Victoria.
Eastbound: Northern Rail services operate to Bolton, Clitheroe, Wigan, Kirkby
and Southport. Whilst First TransPennine Express services operate to Barrow-in-Furness and Oxenholme. Both First TransPennine and Northern operate to Blackpool North.
