SAN JOSé DE LOS LLANOS

'San José de los Llanos' is a municipality (''municipio'') of the San Pedro de Macorís province in the Dominican Republic. Within the municipality there are two municipal districts (''distritos municipales''): Gautier and El Puerto.[1]
As of the 2002 census the municipality had a total population of 25,404 inhabitants, 7,949 living in its urban settlements and 17,455 in its rural districts (''Secciones''). 20,937 did live in its seat (''cabecera'' literally head), 4,990 in the town of San Jose de los Llanos itself and 15,947 in its rural districts. The municipal district El Puerto had 4,467 inhabitants 2,959 living in the town itself and 1,508 in its rural districts. The municipal district Gautier was created after the 2002 census.[2]
