SAN RAMON VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL


'San Ramon Valley High School' is a four-year comprehensive public high school located in the East Bay neighborhood of Danville, California, USA. It is part of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. It is a National Blue Ribbon school from the Blue Ribbon Schools Program as well as a California Distinguished School. San Ramon Valley High's mascot is the Wolf.
SRVHS's cross town rival is Monte Vista High School.

Academics


San Ramon Valley High School has the highest API score in the district at 867. Newsweek ranked San Ramon Valley High School as the number one high school in the district in a 2006 study of US high schools. San Ramon Valley was ranked #855 in the nation; the other high schools in the district, California High School and Monte Vista High School were ranked #983 and #1034 respectively. [1]

Athletics


The Track and Field Team has been very successful over the past two seasons. The boys team was undefeated league champions in 2006 and 2007. The girls teams were undefeated during East Bay Athletic League dual meets; however, the girls team lost the EBAL championship in 2006 to cross-town rival Monte Vista High School,but won the EBAL Championship in 2007. One star of the 2007 season was sprinter Kelly Fogarty, who is now the school record-holder for the 100 with a time of 11.92 seconds (as well as appearing on the top-10 boards 7 other timesin 2007). The star field event athletes include the Greek sensation Stephanos Millias (πρίγκιπας χιλιοστόγραμμο) (tied for #2 on the top ten board at 14' 6" in 2007), Samantha Nasstrom and Kevin Olsson in the pole vault.
Samuel Finlayson, a water polo player, was the national winner of the 2006 Wendy's High School Heisman Award.
Football, one of the high school's least successful sports, finally ended a six-year losing streak in 2007 to cross-town rival Monte Vista High School.
The Boys Cross-Country Team have been EBAL Champions in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2006.

Clubs


San Ramon Valley High has a number of clubs geared towards all interests, among them are a Music Exploration Club, an Anime Club, a DDR club, and a variety of others. Many of these clubs such as the Key Club, NHS, and CSF are aimed at improving the community. Many clubs are often founded for the purpose of raising awareness of various cultures. Examples include the Asian Awareness Club, French Club, Jewish Student Union, Gay-Straight Alliance, and the Black Student Union.[1]

Performing Arts


San Ramon is recognized as having a remarkable performing arts program. The choir under the direction of Ken Abrams recently won both categories of the 2007 Golden State Choral Competition, an unprecedented feat. The Theatre and Dance programs as well have taken home various awards from competitions across California.

Peter Kokinakis: Rapper known as Jack Phonics (although he was never able to graduate, as the police forced him out of school after threatening to charge him as a terrorist, which was regarded by bystanders as false accusations)
Randy Winn: Major League Baseball player for the San Francisco Giants
Mark Madsen: National Basketball Association player for the Minnesota Timberwolves
Jim Bogios: Drummer for the band Counting Crows
Sam Keller: Former starting quarterback of Arizona State University who is now with the University of Nebraska
Nate Schierholtz: Major League Baseball player for the San Francisco Giants
Paul Martinez: University of Oregon place kicker
Wilson Costa: University of Arizona Wide Receiver/ Tight End
Zack Goldstein: Film and Theater Actor, Hollywood, CA
Steven Pitchford: Guitarist for the band Vintage.
Scott Bauhs: Distance Runner for CSU Chico, he was National Champion in the 10,000 Meters in 2007.
