SANDY HIGH SCHOOL

'Sandy High School' is a public high school in Sandy, Oregon, United States. The school's mascot is the Pioneer, to represent the town's historic background. The school colors are crimson and black.
The high school, originally intended for about 900 students (more due to the addition of portable clasrooms) is facing overcrowding with a student body consisting of over 1400 persons. A board was set up to determine if a new high school will be constructed, and has found that a new school is required, though its conclusions still must pass a new vote.
The school made statewide news when in 2005 the teachers voted to go on strike. The strike lasted three weeks with little progress being made towards a deal (a compromise constructed by Governor Ted Kulongoski was accepted by the teachers but turned down by the members of the school board.), until finally a deal was reached.
The school returned to news channels when new A new dress-code met much resistance from the student body and parents. The dress code banned the following

★ Numbers of any kind, save for school jerseys

★ Hats of any kind, later revised to allow for non-sports headbands

★ Hoods

★ Communist Insignia
More controversy and resistance arose, when at a school board meeting, principal Jim Saxton alluded to the possibility of escalating the dress code to Include Identification badges. Students are still protesting by wearing shirts saying GANG(Guys'n'girls Against Nonsense Government) and "Hello, my name is #######!(Referring to the possibility of the ID badges)
