'City of Santa Clarita Transit' is the transit agency serving the city of Santa Clarita, California. City of Santa Clarita Transit is operated under contract by Veolia Transportation, and is affiliated and offers connecting services with Metro and Metrolink.

The City of Santa Clarita assumed responsibility for local transit in 1991 from Los Angeles County, which had developed an embryonic transit network. A small City staff provides supervision over a contract operator. Over time, the local fixed route network and dial-a-ride service was expanded. Under City management, a number of new regional express services to various points in the San Fernando Valley, West Los Angeles, Antelope Valley, and downtown Los Angeles were added or improved. [1]
Starting in mid-2007 and lasting until early-2008 Santa Clarita Transit will undergo a branding overhaul. The agency will be renamed "City of Santa Clarita Transit," buses will receive a new green and blue livery meant to reflect the colors of the city logo and new bus stop signs similar to the new bus livery will be put up.[2] The first buses to be in the new livery will be 2 brand new 60-foot articulated buses. Also receiving an overhaul are the city's bus stops thru a $2-million dollar Bus Stop Improvement Program. This will include replacing 51 Clear Channel advertising shelters, benches, and trash cans. In addition, 40 additional stops will receive new non-advertising shelters, as well as a number of stops receiving new non-advertisement benches. An element of public art will be added to 25 percent of the stops that have bus stop amenities. The program's purpose is three-fold, bus stops will become more uniform in look and features, the advertisement on benches will be eliminated, and public art will have a large expansion. [3] The overhauls are major parts of the city's efforts to make transit more attractive to citizens.
★ Route 790 will be canceled after being replaced by the more-frequent Route 8.
★ Route 7 will be realigned, now traveling south on The Old Road (instead of Tourney) from Magic Mountain Pkwy. to Valencia Blvd. to better serve the Westridge community.
★ Route 14 will be added, which will follow the same routing as Route 4 until Plum Canyon where it will split off and continue on until Heller Circle.
Fares for different services are shown below, children under the age of 5 ride free on all services operated City of Santa Clarita Transit.
Notes:
#Fares for seniors and disabled have been reduced from 50¢ to free until 6/30/08 from City Council approval in an attempt to ease crowding on Dial-a-Ride.
#The EZ transit pass is a monthly pass good for local travel on 21 different public transit carriers throughout the Greater Los Angeles region.
This route begins in the town of Castaic, California, just north of Santa Clarita, and ends near Whites Canyon Road in the center of Santa Clarita. This route also services the McBean Transfer Station, Downtown Newhall, and the Newhall Metrolink station. The route follows an almost "V" shaped pattern thru the city, and it uses primarily Sierra Highway on the east side of town (some selected trips deviate onto Via Princessa to serve the Via Princessa Metrolink station) and San Fernando Road on the west side. It also roughly follows the city boundaries and parallels both the Interstate 5 and the California State Route 14.
This route begins in the town of Val Verde, California, just northwest of Santa Clarita, and ends near Whites Canyon Road in the center of Santa Clarita. This route also services the McBean Transfer Station, Downtown Newhall, and the Newhall Metrolink station. Route 3 begins and ends at same locations as Route 7, but at Newhall Ranch Road, Route 3 and Route 7 split and Route 3 travels east along Newhall Ranch Road, north on Bouquet Canyon Road, and north on Seco Canyon Road until the "Tamarack Loop". Route 3 serves Seco Canyon, Bouquet Seniors Apts., the Best Buy Shopping Center, and Arroyo Seco Jr. High School. Both Route 7 And Route 3 service the Westfield Valencia Town Center, Kaiser Medical Center on Tourney Road, Six Flags Magic Mountain, and College of the Canyons.
Route 4 runs from the LARC Ranch in the Bouquet Canyon area to the Newhall Metrolink Station. Route 4 shares most of its routing with Route 14, which splits off at Plum Canyon. Route 4 begins at the LARC Ranch in Bouquet Canyon and for the northern portion of its trip it follows Bouquet Canyon Road and it only strays away from it when going southbound to make a quick jog into a residential street, Alaminos Drive. The route turns west at Magic Mountain Parkway and then south on McBean Parkway to make a stop at the McBean Transfer Station. Just west of the transfer station the route turns south and services College of the Canyons on Rockwell Canyon Road. The route continues south, until it meets Lyons Avenue, where it continues east and services both the SCV Senior Center and the Newhall Metrolink station.
Route 5 runs between Stevenson Ranch and Vasquez Canyon Road via Lyons Ave to the Newhall Metrolink Station, then to Newhall Ave to Orchard Village Road running into downtown Valencia then to Soledad Canyon Rd serving the Santa Clarita Metrolink station and the Santa Clarita Aquatics Center and Sports Complex into Canyon Country then continues north on Sierra Highway serving the new Canyon Country College of the Canyons campus before terminating at Vasquez Canyon Road.
Route 6 runs between Stevenson Ranch and Shadow Pines Boulevard via Lyons Ave to the Newhall Metrolink Station, then to Newhall Ave to Orchard Village Road running into downtown Valencia then to Soledad Canyon Rd serving the Santa Clarita Metrolink station and the Santa Clarita Aquatics Center and Sports Complex into Canyon Country and then continues east on Soledad Canyon Road to the Shadow Pines Area.
Route 7 will be realigned to travel on The Old Road on August 12, 2007. Route 7 begins at Six Flags Magic Mountain and ends at the "Tamarack Loop" in the Seco Canyon area. Route 7 begins and ends at same locations as Route 3 but splits in two different areas. After serving Magic Mountain, Route 7 turns south on The Old Road and services the Westridge community. The route then makes a left onto Valencia Blvd., rejoining the same alignment as Route 3 to serve College of the Canyons, McBean Transfer Station, and Westfield Valencia Town Center. Then the route splits again from Route 3 traveling westbound on Newhall Ranch Road, north along Copper Hill Drive where it makes a loop around Alta Vista, Constellation and Kelly Johnson Parkway to stop at the Transit Offices, east on Decoro Drive, north again on McBean Parkway (serving the neighborhoods of Northbridge and Northpark, and Valencia High School), and east again on Copper Hill Road to Seco Canyon Road and the Tamarack Loop.
Route 8 travels between the McBean Transfer Station and the Sylmar/San Fernando Metrolink station. A good portion of the trip is on the freeway using Interstate 5 and Interstate 210. The route is limited stop, having just 5 stops. Buses run approximately every 30 minutes in each direction.

Route 14 will be begin service on August 12, 2007. Route 14 runs from Heller Circle in the Plum Canyon area to the Newhall Metrolink Station. Route 14 shares most of its routing with Route 4, splitting off at Plum Canyon. Route 14 begins at Heller Circle in Plum Canyon and then turns south onto Bouquet Canyon Road, where it begins its shared alignment with Route 4. The route turns west at Magic Mountain Parkway and then south on McBean Parkway to make a stop at the McBean Transfer Station. Just west of the transfer station the route turns south and services College of the Canyons on Rockwell Canyon Road. The route continues south, until it meets Lyons Avenue, where it continues east and services both the SCV Senior Center and the Newhall Metrolink station.
The Hometown Trolley route is a new service of City of Santa Clarita Transit; it provides shuttle services between hotels and attractions in and around the city of Santa Clarita using a unique "trolley" style bus. The route is geared to tourists visiting the city with the Trolley making stops at:

Commuter Express provides service to and from to major places of employment outside of the Santa Clarita Valley (Routes 796-799), and also provides service from areas outside of the Santa Clarita Valley to major places of employment inside the Santa Clarita Valley (Routes 791-794). Route 795 is run in partnership with Metrolink, and provides connecting service to the Antelope Valley when trains terminate in Santa Clarita. Route 747 or the "Mid-Day Flyer" provides mid-day service between Los Angeles Union Station and Santa Clarita to help supplement the demand for mid-day service Metrolink trains.[4] Commuter Express service is only operated Monday - Friday.
