SANTA RITA, GUAM


'Santa Rita' is a village located on the West Coast of Guam with hills overlooking Apra Harbor. According to the 2000 census it has a population of 7,500, down from 11,857 in 1990. The village also contains Southern High School, one of four public high schools on Guam.
Prior to World War II, the village of Sumay occupied the Orote Peninsula within the municipality, but was destroyed and abandoned. In its place the Americans built a Naval Station. The peninsula forms the southern boundary of Apra Harbor.
