A 'savant' (IPA: ) is a person with a monumentally advanced mental skill or level of human intelligence, far superior than even the most accomplished of other people. The level of intelligence is also classified as "unmeasureable genius". Generally a Savant may be classed as the highest level of intelligence above exceptional genius which lies above 190-200.
A Savant may have one of the world's most accomplished skills not only in mathematics and in the sciences such as Physics but often across a range of fields and may possess Universal genius. Historically Polymath Leonardo Da Vinci has been classed as a savant and was a highly accomplished scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, painter, sculptor, architect, musician, and writer and considered one of the most intelligent men to ever live. His IQ has been estimated to be around 220.
The word is a loanword from the French language, and happens to be part of the last name of a person who demonstrated one of the highest ever recorded IQs, Marilyn vos Savant who had an IQ reportedly of 228 as a child although later sources state 186.
Universal genius Johann Wolfgang von Goethe had an estimated IQ of 210.
The world's former No.1 chess player Garry Kasparov with a reported IQ of 190 could be classified as a Savant. Bobby Fischer has a given IQ of 187.
