SAYANOGORSK

'Sayanogorsk' () is a town in the Republic of Khakassia, Russia. It is located at around . Population: 50,255 (2002 Census).
Despite being a small town, Sayanogorsk has one of the largest aluminum smelting plants in the world and the largest hydro-electric dam in Khakassia. The aluminum plant provides work to the majority of citizens of Sayanogorsk.
The natural environment in the city is very polluted because of the Rusal Company aluminum smelting plant. You can see often very interesting phenomena on Mount Gladenkaya (also near by city): city is under a very big and grey cloud. This cloud is under normal white clouds. Composition of this cloud can be only estimated but is likely caused by pollutants from the smelting plant. Derivatives of Fluorine, Aluminium oxide and Formaldehyde can be found in clouds like this. This elements comes out of aluminum smelting procedure.
