SEED OF CHUCKY
'''Seed of Chucky''' (also known as '''Child's Play 5: Seed of Chucky''') is a 2004 film and the fifth entry in the popular ''Child's Play'' series. ''Seed of Chucky'' follows the events of ''Bride of Chucky'' and stars Jennifer Tilly (who plays herself and also voices Tiffany), Billy Boyd (as the voice of Glen/Glenda), and Brad Dourif (as Chucky). The film features rapper Redman and director John Waters. It was written and directed by Don Mancini, who created ''Child's Play'' and has written all sequels to date. With this entry, Mancini marked his directorial debut.
The film, shot in Romania, continues the series' evolution from the pure-horror genre of the first movie to a hybrid horror-comedy. Besides spoofing other horror movies, the film references domestic dramas and tabloid television.

Plot
This film introduces a gender-confused doll named Glen (voiced by Billy Boyd), the gentile child of Chucky and Tiffany. When Glen sees his parents on an episode of ''Access Hollywood'' for the upcoming movie ''Chucky goes Psycho,'' he escapes his abusive ventriloquist owner and mails himself to Hollywood. Once there, he uses Chucky's amulet to transfer Chucky's and Tiffany's souls into the new dolls that the studio is using for their movie. Although horrified by his parents' murderous lifestyle, Glen wants desperately to please his parents and belong to a family, no matter how dysfunctional. Chucky and Tiffany cannot agree on whether to continue killing or not, or even on the gender of their child.
Meanwhile, the real-life Jennifer Tilly (playing herself) is desperate to advance her acting career, and sees Redman (playing himself) as just the person for the job. Chucky and Tiffany have other plans for her, because they want to be human again, including impregnating her with a human child to transfer Glen's soul into...or Glenda's...or both.
Themes
Writer/Director Don Mancini, who is openly gay, has stated, "My relationship with my dad is reflected, in a metaphoric way, in Glen's relationship with Chucky in ''Seed'': Chucky wants to make a man out of Glen by encouraging him to kill, but Glen wants to remain true to himself." (CampBlood.org, "Interview with Horror Homo of the Year for 2004, Don Mancini", 2004).
Writer/Director Don Mancini: “Metaphorically, [Seed of Chucky] is about family discord and domestic abuse. If you were to do this story with real people it would be disturbing and very sad.”

Possible Sequel
Fans of the 'Child's play' series have sported interest in a sixth installment, however, no official news has been confirmed with writer/director Don Mancini. Mancini has expressed further interest in a sequel alongside most of the original cast, yet certain rumours have been corrupting the web that a sixth installment may actually be in the works within the next three years. Rumours for the title have been expressed yet not officially confirmed, rumour titles such as 'Chucky V.S. Leprechaun', 'Revenge of Chucky', and ideas for a musical sequel have been expressed, but most of these ideas have been binned or have yet to materialise. Rogue pictures is yet to express any interest in a sequel to the series, but it is expected that if a sequel was to see the light of day, that all original cast members Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly and Billy Boyd would return as the voices for the infamous Chucky, Tiffany and Glen.
On the DVD commentary for 'Seed of Chucky', Mancini revealed an idea for a sequel titled 'Chucky goes Hawaiian' which would be a musical installment. Whether this idea has been binned is unsure, but fans of the series have expressed that they would like to see the return of Andy Barclay from the first three installments, and the continuity of the Jesse and Jade storyline from 'Bride of Chucky'. These comments from fans have been taken into consideration, since a comic book series of the notorious doll sees the return of Andy Barclay. Many possible hints for a sequel in the near future have been given by the cast and crew of the first five installments, yet the continuity from 'Seed' will be difficult from where the movie left off. Now that a second spawn of Chucky and Tiffany named Glenda has entered the 'Chucky' universe, it is expected that Glen and Glenda will appear in a possible sequel.
Trivia
★ Chucky kills Britney Spears by running her off the side of the road while he and Glen are driving a Hummer. Since Britney in the film was portrayed by a look-alike, TV spots for the movie displayed this message: "Britney Spears Does Not Appear In This Movie". The reason for this was that Britney Spears and her management were concerned that people might be led to believe that Britney actually appeared and "died" in the movie.
★ The gender-confused child of Chucky and Tiffany is named either Glen or Glenda. This is an obvious tribute to Ed Wood, Jr.'s movie ''Glen or Glenda''.
★ Glen's alternate personality, Glenda, is a murderous "lady-killer" -- an homage to Alfred Hitchcock's ''Psycho'' and Brian De Palma's ''Dressed to Kill''.
★ Glen's refusal to kill a fly is another reference to ''Psycho''.
★ There is also a reference to Stanley Kubrick's ''The Shining'', when Chucky breaks down the hospital room door with an axe, a la Jack Nicholson. After a long pause, instead of saying "Here's Chucky!!!" - a play on the famous line "Here's Johnny!!!", he says he "can't think of a thing to say, fuck it."
★ When Glen accidentally kills the photographer with acid, Chucky takes a picture of the victim next to his horrified son in a manner similar to photos of kills in an animal hunt.
★ Tiffany is voiced by Jennifer Tilly, who plays herself in the film and played the real-life Tiffany in ''Bride of Chucky''.
★ When Tiffany calls Mrs. Bailey to apologize for killing her husband she is referring to the cop that has his throat slit in the previous Chucky movie Bride Of Chucky during the opening credits. His name was Robert Bailey, Mrs. Bailey's husband.
★ It is revealed that Tiffany has a younger sister. Tiffany tells Chucky, "It's like my mother used to say, once is a blessing, twice is a curse", to which Chucky responds, "Well that would explain your sister!"
★ It is also revealed that Chucky murdered Tiffany's mother. Chucky says to Tiffany "Enough with your mother already! I killed that bitch 20 years ago and she still won't shut up!"
★ Chucky's family were also killers like him; after Glen/Glenda said, "Am I going to be a killer?", Chucky said, "Of course! It's been a family tradition for generations!"
