SEGA STUDIO USA
'Sega Studio USA' is the United States division of Sonic Team located in 650 Townsend Street, Suite 650 San Francisco, California. Despite the division being located in the USA, all of company's team members are Japanese, with the exception of two artists that work there.[1] The division was originally created to work on Sonic Adventure and ChuChu Rocket! for the games international release. They dubbed themselves Sonic Team USA.
The company's first game they developed was the 2001 Dreamcast game ''Sonic Adventure 2''. They later ported the game to the Nintendo GameCube after the Dreamcast failed in the market. The GameCube port was so successful, that the company decided to make their next hit, ''Sonic Heroes'' on all three consoles. Nintendo Gamecube, PlayStation 2, and the Xbox. Sonic Heroes was later ported to the PC CD-ROM. After that, they went on to make their next multiplatform game, ''Shadow the Hedgehog''. They are currently working on the NiGHTS sequel for the Wii titled ''.
The company is headed by Takashi Iizuka (game designer). In 2005, the company changed their official name to Sega Studio USA. They are, however, still known as Sonic Team USA by fans. The team resides inside the 650 Townsend Center building.[2]
