'Seligenstadt' is a town in the
district of Offenbach, in
Hesse,
Germany. It is situated on the left bank of the
Main, 15 km northwest of
Aschaffenburg, and 22 km southeast of
Frankfurt.

History
The city ist one of the oldest one in Germany. The first notice was in year 815. Seligenstadt was founded by
Einhard. At this time it was called ''Obermühlheim''.
Main sights
Seligenstadt has a great many old houses in the inner city, but it's main feature is the
Basilica. The ''Einhardhaus'' at the marketplace, the old city wall, the monastery next to the Basilica and the ''
Palatium'' built by
Frederich II are other interesting attractions. In the district Klein Welzheim is a very great castle built in water.
