'Serge Brammertz' (born 17 February 1962 in Eupen, Belgium) is currently the deputy prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. He was a federal prosecutor in Belgium from 1997 to 2002.
On January 11 2006 UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan appointed him head of the International Investigation Commission into the murder of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. As such, he replaces Detlev Mehlis who stepped down in December 2005.
He is also a former Professor of law at the University of Liège.
