The 'Sfinks festival' is a Belgian festival for world music. The festival is held during the last weekend in July. The 2007 festival will be held between the 26th and the 29th of July.
The festival was first held in 1975 in a local school park.
The 1982 festival featured exotic music for the first time, and the festival was forever changed.
In 1992 and 1994, third and fourth days were added to the festival were added to accommodate the expanding program.
In 1994, the venue was changed to a larger site, the 'Molenveld' in Boechout to accommodate the larger crowds.
The festival currently receives about 40,000 visitors and over 40 bands each year.
