'Sidney van den Bergh' (born 1929) is a Canadian astronomer. He discovered Andromeda II.
Born in the Netherlands, he received his A.B. from Princeton University in 1950. He obtained an M.Sc. from Ohio State University (1952) and a Dr. rer. nat. from the University of Goettingen (1956).
The first part of his career was spent at the David Dunlap Observatory of the University of Toronto. The second part was in Victoria, British Columbia, where he became Director of the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory.
He has served as President of the Canadian Astronomical Society and as Vice-President of the International Astronomical Union.
The asteroid, 4230 van den Bergh, is named in his honour.
In 1994, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. In 1988, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society.
