SkyWest, Inc. became the parent company of SkyWest Airlines in order to facilitate the transfer of the sell of Delta Air Lines, Inc. subsidiary, ASA to SkyWest, Inc.
On Monday, August 15, 2005, Delta announced that it was selling Atlantic Southeast Airlines to the newly incorporated SkyWest, Inc. for $425 million in cash, and on Thursday, September 8, 2005, SkyWest, Inc. announced that the acquisition had been completed.
SkyWest Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, even though merged into one holding company maintain separate operations.
SkyWest, Inc. like SkyWest Airlines is based in St. George, Utah, United States.
