SLEEPING GIANT STATE PARK

'Sleeping Giant State Park' is an isolated mountain, Mount Carmel, located about 1 mile north of Hamden, Connecticut. Quinnipiac University marks its southwest corner and the Quinnipiac River runs along its eastern base. A stone lookout tower is located at the top, and dozens of well maintained and heavily used hiking trails exist throughout the park. Sleeping Giant State Park has also become a popular rock climbing route among locals. Sleeping Giant State Park got its name from the striking resemblance Mount Carmel has to a giant sleeping on his side.
